I have been having this problem for... well let's just say a month or even longer. It is one of the worst nightmares I have ever went through. It is so bad. I have posted on this forum before, but without a picture.

Part list at the end.

These ANNOYING lag spikes. Or should I say freezes, where my fps just goes to zero for not even half a second, and it can become REALLY annoying, and screw me up. They are very noticeable, and sometimes the frametime can get up and hit the top of the graph! I tried doing so many things-

-Heat? No. CPU can get to 40-50 degrees celsius while gaming. GPU can get to 70, but it really depends on the game. In TF2 it is around 40-50 celsius. There is barely any dust inside, I got this computer like 3-2 months ago.
-CPU core parking? I doubt it would even cause it, and no.
-HDD? I tried it on a SSD and HDD with the same exact lag spikes happening.
-Software? I reinstalled Windows. That means deleting everything with it. So no.
-Replace the GPU? Tried it, didn't do anything. Same lag spikes occur using the iGPU (Intel HD 4600)
-Take USB devices out? Tried it, didn't do anything what so ever.
- Updating drivers? Already did update every driver. Also tried downgrading a couple with no luck.
- Updating BIOS? Already did it.
- Setting everything to max performance, not power saver? I disabled Speedstep, I enabled Max Performance in Power Options, everything (I believe).
- Ram Errors? I did a memtest in Windows. Didn't find anything, and I tested each stick individually with no luck.
- Internet issues? Well it happens on my Laptop, but not on my Brothers laptop. What's up with that?
- I don't think it is Steam, Google Chrome, or anything else causing it.
- Virus's? Malware? lagspikecauser.exe? Nope. I have MSE and MalwareBytes. I also tried disabling both of those in-game with no luck.
- Wireless Adapter? Using Wired networking doesn't change, nor fix the issue. I also tried it without installing my wireless adapter's driver and using wired, didn't fix it.

Some peoples suggestions: Send in the motherboard, test with someone else (don't have anyone else)

I can't think of anything else causing it. Sorry about the long list. It really feels like this problem is impossible to solve. I don't really like testing to see if it is a certain piece of hardware causing it.

Has anyone, ANYONE had this exact issue before? It drives me crazy.

All parts are being used except one of the fans which makes a weird sound for some reason.

I do not, would my USB Headset work without the onboard audio on my motherboard?

Depends.... I believe some of them do have their own "audio card" inside. Which cans do you have?

Yeah this one had a audio card in it, disabling it sadly didn't change the latency. I noticed something though. If I remove my network adapter, don't move my mouse at all, and don't touch my keyboard at all, then the latency from the usb ports stops completely. That makes sense, but perhaps the USB ports are causing this issue.

Ugh. I just called ASUS for technical support. They hung up on me once, then they closed. Never buying an ASUS product again. Such bad technical support.

I would hate to wait through their hour long wait of music and ads..... Ugh. Might as well buy another motherboard from a different company.

Well, I've had nothing but good luck with Asus as far as reliability. My current motherboard has been running about 5.5 years. I never turn it off and it only reboots for windows updates/drivers. It has been overclocked the whole time. I've never had to return/RMA anything to Asus.

Hmm. Well it always feels that I get unlucky. Well in anything that I explicitly want. (Like a good computer).
Anyway, while at work, I decided finally to say screw this. Gonna RMA 3 things at once. 2 for the lag spikes, one is for this freezing that I was having with the Graphics Card (NOT RELATED TO SPIKES). The motherboard (ASUS), the Power Supply (This is really a test, Antec) and Graphics Card (EVGA). I really don't want to send back the motherboard. I don't trust Asus (I heard they sometimes break the pins on the CPU even though they weren't broken). Agh oh well. Gonna hope for some luck. Luckily I trust Antec, and EVGA a lot. EVGA supplied me with shipping labels for sending my product in, even on the second time sending it in. I completely forgave them for sending me a broken GPU the second time. It was hard to notice the problem anyway (When the clock on the GPU lowers, crash. Happens if the GPU was in the motherboard for some time. Reconnecting the GPU fixes it for some time.) 3-day select shipping (Fast and expensive!) Next computer I am building will be mostly from parts from EVGA. They are just trustworthy, and their customer service is great.

IF replacing all these items DOES NOT infact work, THEN I can start replacing small things. For example memory (First), CPU (Second), SSD (Third)... then I don't know. I would be at loss there. I would have to start blaming it on my ISP. They implemented a virus into my system I guess. And only into my laptop and desktop. Screw them.

Anyway, thanks for all the help! No need to post anymore, I know that this isn't a software issue as reinstalling Windows doesn't fix it. (Plus deleting everything). I also defaulted my BIOS and tried enabling anything on the BIOS having to do with optimization, not changing the problem in any way shape or form.

Oddly enough, I haven't tested for lag spikes on any other game except GMOD without using Internet. Probably should have, oh well. Perhaps GMOD was causing it. That is my theory, but why Gmod is my question... It is the first game I started noticing the lag spikes in too.

Will post back if the problem doesn't resolve!
