[citation][nom]demonhorde665[/nom] Steam and valve have never let me down in any regard.[/citation]

Fortunately, Steam is working on a Linux version, with NATIVE Linux games! There will be less and less reason to go with Windows as time goes on!

I like the amount of tinfoil hats floating around in this comment section. Everyone must download through Windows Store? I think that's one of the first things Microsoft has laid to rest, yet you still see crazy people believing in this.

Since MS owns Skype too why don't they just merge Live Messenger and Skype into 1. People will be a lot more happier if they have Skype installed by default instead of Live Messenger

@leakingpaint: "The ease of Apple synchronization across devices with the freedom of windows is something I hope MS get right."

I suspect you're more likely to end up with the ease of Microsoft combined with the freedom of Apple.

BTW, on the "saving settings in the cloud" front, should I be reading that as "you can't log in if you're not connected to the network"?

Store everything on the cloud. I hope they got some money from the government or the recording industry for the assist.

What about Europeans? Their laws aren't as lax about letting governmental authorities randomly browse people's personal information without warrants or even logging what they were doing. They've already seen my tax returns, and if they really want my family pictures, I suppose they can post them all over their cubicles, but not everyone would want that.

Whats up with all the Metro hate? You'll haven't even used it long enough to see the benefits. And if you truely don't like it...you can stick with XP, 7 or OSX if you'd like. Just because it doesn't meet your taste doesn't mean it's worthless. Win8 is better than Win7 in many ways. You just fail to research to prove it to yourself.

I have removed the content of this post as it was not understandable.

Content of post is probably best placed not understood for not being there then not there. Given of that of say Live to say at a time and some interest of itself to say for itself. But to of not there is probably still "limited" to what is given only some of Live of itself to say only seems to be of some say interest of not, but to say it there is to say Live is?

Thought I had posted as such to say with little or no more to it, but of such to say is understood is probably just as much left to the article and or any "articles" for such.

The interest of not understood for say post is probably left to more of topic of then post on, which seems to be fairly reasonable. The article of itself has at least maybe that of some topic for but maybe not all of to say.

Like saying any interest of comment has no interest of no understood for such. But is as limited as saying there is a post to have any understanding for any understood maybe??

But, whatever.

Innovation trough killing useful software?
Heck, the least useful piece of software in that package is still more precious to me than having a ***ing ribbon instead of a menu, or fu*** squarepants tiles instead of transparent icons!

[citation][nom]dalethepcman[/nom]Windows 8 is far superior to Windows 7, just because you don't like metro doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a shot. That's like buying an XP machine because you don't like internet explorer 8. No one is forcing you to use metro on Win8, try typing "Disable metro" into google.Metro is made for touch devices, it works great on my touch device, but only when touch is the only input available. When I use a mouse, I simply click my registry key to disable metro. Embrace change if you like IT, because the field moves fast.[/citation]

1: Many of us HAVE gave it a shot, which is exactly WHY we hate it. It is absolute goat tripe for desktop use to anyone who does anything more then just check email and browse the web. I don't give a flying crap about details like being faster because it doesn't do me any good when I can't use my computer for what I want to use it for the way I want to use it. An OS maker job is to make an OS that allows people to use their computers, not dictate to people what and how they can use their computers.

2: No, Metro can NOT be disabled and you ARE forced to go through it. It was only able to be worked around in the early beta's. Microsoft, never one to completely miss and ignore what their customer base wants, removed everything in the code that allowed it after they saw how many people were doing it.

[citation][nom]leakingpaint[/nom]MS is finally catching up to the rest of the aesthetically pleasing software in the world.[/citation]

Which ISN'T the point computer software. Functionality should be the sole criteria for products who purpose is functionality.

If you want 'aesthetically pleasing', than use one of the other products that gives it to you. There is no justified or logical reason that EVERY OS needs to be ruined doing it because not everyone wants or likes it.

Hey, it's fine that Win8 works for you for whatever you use your computer for. You only speak for yourself however. Don't assume that it can work for everyone just because it works for you, because it DON'T. And this is the fundamental problem with Win8. Lack of user configurable choice. Microsoft has taken it upon themselves to force this on everyone, to the degree of removing all legacy code that allowed those of us who don't want it the ability to disable it.

Focusing on aesthetics has ruined every program it has been applied to. Look at AdAware or Avast. Used to be good back in the days when they focused on making a useful program. Garbage since focusing on appealing to persons who care more about fluff than function. I like to call it blonde thinking. Appearance and accessorize. That you can't walk in the 6" pink high heels isn't the point, they match your purse and that's the important thing. Make sure you ask the doctor for the pink ankle cast. It's made from tissue paper and your ankle won't set correctly, but it will match your purse.

[citation][nom]demonhorde665[/nom]what about games that used windows live??? will they all of a sudden stop working like the online components to old ms games did when MS closed the "zone".[/citation]
Did you even read the article? All they are doing is removing the word "live" from the names of applications that contain the word. Nothing else.
