[citation][nom]korn007[/nom]Yea why would microsoft get into hardware its not like they havent made billions on the xbox 360. Next time Darkk think before you speak bro it doesnt make you look like an ass.[/citation]
Microsoft hasn't made billions off of the Xbox 360. Bill Gates is the one who originally was the one that said Microsoft is a software company, and considering Xbox's hardware struggles that should be pretty obvious. Seems to be a lot of Microsoft fanatics around here because what Dark said really isn't anything out of ordinary.

Microsoft should stick to what they know best, stealing operating systems and deflecting lawsuits. As long as they stick to their roots they'll do fine in the tablet business. I don't think anybody wants a red ring of death on their new tablet!

[citation][nom]Darkk[/nom]Microsoft is a software company so why they insist on making hardware? Look what happened with the Zune.[/citation]
a good device that cant compete with "cool" factor of apple.

thats what happens when you compete with someone who sells lifestyles instead of actual equipment.

@tm
You will be surprised to know that but Microsoft brought tablets to market long time before apple did. However, apple did it in more successful way.

[citation][nom]AnUnusedUsername[/nom]What's wrong with the Zune? It's significantly cheaper than an equivalent iPod, doesn't require you to use iTunes,
(blah blah)
They're just a useless product category, priced higher than a laptop with less usability and power. The only thing tablets are effective for is internet browsing.[/citation]

Zunes were ugly devices that nobody wanted. ZUNE is dead. Try to buy one from newegg. What? Oh yeah, dead product. Did Apple force people to NOT buy Zune? You can flip it around... did MS force people to not buy Macintosh computers?

Tablets have their place... as does a notebook. Do you have a notebook? If so, why? Why not just take your desktop everywhere you go?

Tablets have their place. Buy one or not.. get off the anger ride.

Apple did more in a month than MS in 10 years.... so yeah, Apple did it MUCH MUCH more successful.

We'll see how Win8 tablets do... I think it'll be overkill for the form-factor. But if done right, something like the Asus Transformer, it may do well.

[citation][nom]oneblackened[/nom]Correction: Apple tablets do one thing at a time. And why? because there are considerable processing benefits to 4 slower cores over 2 faster ones.[/citation]
iPads can and do multi-task. The issue of multi-tasking is how easy it is to switch between the apps, etc. WebOS had the easiest interface. Android is next... then iOS. In a few months, iOS 5 comes out and the iPads will improve.

A stupid thing about Safari on iPad... it has a waste-of-space row - which is where the tabs would /should be.

No Apple didn't create a "better" tablet or anything else than MS.

They just "marketed" it to easier "marks" that are suckers for the "lifestyle" and hipster attitude.

Honestly anyone that waits in line for hours and hours camping out in front of the crApple store to buy the newest iJunk is at least a fool and at worst a moron.

[citation][nom]shreeharsha[/nom]No where it's mentioned as a ARM processor, it can be a x86 quad core very low power processor (intel, VIA or AMD)....[/citation]

I just hope it's an AMD Fusion processor and not an Atom processor.

[citation][nom]AnUnusedUsername[/nom]What's wrong with the Zune? It's significantly cheaper than an equivalent iPod, doesn't require you to use iTunes, and has a better screen and similar if not better battery life. Sure, it didn't sell very well, but that's because Apple has brand-power, not because the Zune was a bad product.Honestly though, I don't see the point of bothering to make a tablet. Everyone thought the iPad concept was simply worthless when it was announced, I don't understand why that changed. They're just a useless product category, priced higher than a laptop with less usability and power. The only thing tablets are effective for is internet browsing. So until a company makes one that's cheaper than a better device, there's no point. A tablet at around $50 that does nothing but run a web browser would be great. A tablet at $500 that also does nothing but run a trimmed-down web browser and has expensive hardware that isn't required for that task is useless.[/citation]

The Zune hardware and OS wise was nice, the problem, is it was ugly. This is what MS does not do well when it comes to hardware is know how to make something look expensive, sleek, and attractive. Because mainly they rely on the hardware market to do that for them. They are at core a software company. Apple is more of a brand company.

With that said, if the Zune had been sexy looking and MS knew how to brand it would have easily made a much bigger splash in the market.

If and when they come out with their own tablet I would seriously go out and hire some of the marketing, product look and feel development guys, I could find, and don't limit it to the PC world , go talk to car designers, who ever, get a sexy tablet out that runs windows 8, and the IPAD can forget about it.

Errr...what? Placing an app in suspension is not the same as multitasking. iOS puts apps into suspension and then drops them from the processor outside of pointing to a memory address. True multitasking is allowing the app to continue to perform whatever task it was doing while it was not in the foreground. This is akin to running something like Angry Birds in the foreground and having YouTube playing a video in the background and the video continuing (you hearing sound from it) while you're still playing Angry Birds. Instead of listening to what Steve Jobs thinks is multitasking, learn what multitasking really is.

It will be called the "Win U" and integrate into the Xbox 720. It will be able to play games from the Xbox, and act as a controller for the Xbox. It will also integrate motion controls.

Oh, forgot. Quad core, shmad core - What are the specs? I'm a little over companies saying we've got a great product coming................ nearly a year later it's out with poor specs and no longer class leading...

Please stop wasting our time and release something that is blows the iPad out of the sky! #kthankslove
