It's amazing you get all kinds of people come out of the woodwork when seeing something like this.

For the dumbasses who think "Oh does this mean there won't be any service packs for windows 7" Microsoft is a HUGE company you think they have more than one development team working on the different projects or do you really think the WHOLE company works on one project then moves on to the next?

Also the whole Windows 7 is Vista SP3 or 2 or who gives a flying crap, if you actually used both of them longer than the 5 minutes at your local best buy you will see that there are many improvements and differences.

About the 3 year life cycle of OS's lets see.... Linux Fedora comes out almost if not every year with a new OS. Ubuntu comes out every few years. Apple comes out with a "new" OS X.x every 2 or so years. So shut up about a 3 years before the next Windows comes out, every one does it.

And as for a price of the OS yeah so Apple OS is cheaper (because you have to install it on their overpriced hardware) and Linux is FREE (except for tech support). But instead of buying the retain just buy the OEM version which is definately cheaper. Windows 7 Professional Retail $275, OEM (Full version naturally) $140.

My Windows 7 Ultimate x64 is fully activated and was ''free''. o_0

Same with mine. Gotta love MSDN-AA (and similar legit methods)

Windows 8 huh? I honestly would love to see a redesigned kernel with audio and video in mind, sorta like OSX. I appreciate all Operating Systems as they have changed our lives but there are drawbacks to this one compared to that one and I feel obligated to add my two cents. I believe OSX is based on the UNIX kernel, correct me if I am wrong, and I believe they have the upper hand because of this. On the other hand Windows (which I have no idea about the kernel but I know it wasn't designed with streaming audio in mind) has it's benefits too. So, I honestly can't wait to see what they come up with because I am pretty much let down about Windows Vista and 7 in terms of what they HAVEN'T changed. Only time will tell.

[citation][nom]beayn[/nom]I'm wondering where you get "Usually" from. As far as I can remember, Windows 3 had 2 OS's to its core. Then there was Win95/98/Me and WinNT/2000/XP and now Vista/7/8. I would say usually 3 OS's to a core.[/citation]

WinNT - thats NT4, NT5 is 2000, NT5.1 is XP, NT5.2

If you want to include Windows Server 2003 (NT5.2) and Windows XP 64 bit (NT5.2) then perhaps.

And yes Win95/98/ME is the exception.

I really like my Windows 7 Ultimate a lot but I hope to god that Windows 8 looks like something original this time, and not resembling a rehash of Windows Vista.

It basically is vista, and theres nothing wrong with that fact may i add - it works, they just tweaked it up some more for us to make Windows 7.
