[citation][nom]gom99[/nom]"Magic Mouse -> Arc Touch Mouse;"MS had various mice prototypes before information of the magic mouse was released"iPod -> Zune;"iPod isn't the 1st mp3 player"iOS -> Win Mobile 7;"MS has been in the mobile market for a long time. The problems with windows mobile is that MS sat on it's laurels much like it did with IE6.[/citation]
Excellent points...

[citation][nom]cyprod[/nom]did any of the "if apple did it, it would be revolutionary" commentors read the article? Apple already did do it minus the ability to flatten it out. It's called the magic mouse.Jane even was kind enough to mention it in the first paragraph.[/citation]

Yes, but the fact that it doesn't flatten out and this one does is what makes it revolutionary. It's the same as saying an ipod touch blown up to an ipad is revolutionary. It's the exact same thing. That's the point of the joke.

Did you actually bother to read it, or did you just see the word apple and assume that apple already did it? The sentence you mention says, "However, the images didn't look anything like a traditional mouse, leading people to believe Microsoft could be working on its own version of Apple's Magic Trackpad." This is clearly not the MS version of the Magic Trackpad, so your point was what exactly? This is not a particularly revolutionary idea, but no: apple has not done it already. This copies neither the magic trackpad nor the magic mouse.

[citation][nom]beayn[/nom]But if Apple made it, it would be revolutionary.[/citation]

Actually, apple did make it... and everyone said it was revolutionary...

Oh well. At the very least, it seems Microsoft is getting better at marketing. Unfortunately, I have to keep M$ on my **** list for their stance on Net Neutrality, at least they'll keep Google company.

Ok, so we read an article about a new mouse microsoft made. Then theres one small mention of Apple, and i think every single comment above me is about apple, or part of a flame war? I suppose id be adding to the list, so i say that mouse doesnt look like my cup of tea. I like normal, ergonomic mouses, these make my wrist and knuckles hurt. Apple or M$, i dont like the design on any of them.

Thank you for grabbing onto the last sentence of my post, I was unaware of the existence of the magic trackpad, as I'm not exactly the largest user of apple products. Way to use that as an attempt to discredit my entire post as frivolous by centering in on the least pertinent portion of it to point out an error and then stating counter to what I am and providing no attempt at a convincing argument.

That being said, exactly how is a mouse that incorporates touch into its surface not copying the magic mouse, which to my knowledge is the only other mouse with touch built into its surface? The fact that it flattens makes it a totally different concept which in no way copies the magic mouse? Sorry, but though I haven’t used the thing, my first fear of a mouse that flattens would be that it gets flatter on me during regular use. I’m not discrediting the product, but I do have a serious concern about usability. Remember, to copy something doesn’t mean it has to be verbatim; it just has to lift ideas. I’m not even chastising Microsoft for it, as I don’t see a problem of copying good ideas. I’m merely stating that the apple comments are uncalled for as they already did the bulk of what the arc is.

And before you label me as an irrational apple fanboy, please search for my previous posts and see the wonderful things I've said about the company in the past. You'll find that I'm not BSing when I say I own zero apple products. In fact people that know me know that apple is one of my hot topics that pisses me off when they get undue credit. In this case, apple gets due credit. It was a cool idea.

[citation][nom]jacobdrj[/nom]I wonder if they will make a bluetooth version[/citation]
Why?
2.4Ghz nano receiver works faster and you can use it on any machine with a USB port instead of relying on it having bluetooth as well.

Because I have bluetooth on all of the laptops I would use this with, and my desktop too... Those same laptops have few valuable USB ports...
I would rather use the bluetooth I already have than waste a USB port, if I can avoid it...

If apple made it, it would not be revolutionary, it would however only work on an apple mouse pad, have to be held a specific way and would not allow you to click on anything that was not apple approved.

[citation][nom]Dirtman73[/nom]Razer and Logitech mice suck. SideWinder FTW.[/citation]
I've owned numerous logitech mice and a microsoft recently until I switched to razer. Razer sucks, the MS mouse was not great. I want to switch back to the logitech. More buttons. More battery life. Just more.

As far as the crApple mouse, it looks like probably the best product they've released in years; unfortunately true to apple history, it's button challenged.
