Hello, I'm building a mid-tier gaming PC and looking for any advice on my build. My budget is $1,200 to $1,500 and I would like to play 2019 released games on medium to high settings. Mostly looking for compatibility issues or suggestions for cheaper/better parts.

So i swapped the Motherboard for a H370 since the only real benefit of Z370 is the option to overclock the CPU and only CPUs with a K-Suffic alow you to overclock. So a 8400 with a Z370 is a waste of Money.
I also changed the Ram to something with higher speed so you get a little bit of extra performance.
The Cooler is kinda unnecessary since the 8400 does come with a Stop heatsink and isnt produce that much heat.

I swapped the Rx580 for a way more powerfull gtx 1080.
Changed the PSU to a higher quality PSU from Corsair (i reall dont like this cheap rosewill things).

Things you can change if you want:

replace the I5 with an I7 like the 8700.
Get a gtx 1080ti for 150$ more.
Readd your Bluerayplayer (forgot that sorry 😀 )

Solution

Just a headsup. The masterbox lite 5 is a really poorly ventelated case and causes overheating with anything above lower end systems. So you might want to switch that out.

here's an AMD build with 8c/16t:

I'd personally drop the BD-R reader and the NH-L9i and then you can save $100. The L9i isn't really any better than the stock cooler and BD-R drives (well any optical drives) are becoming less and less of a necessity every day. Here's what I would suggest - under $1100 and you get a 1070 as opposed to an RX-580:
