[SOLVED] Migrating data and software to a new pc?

Hi,

i’ve bought a new pc and i’d like to move my data across with minimal hassle. A month ago i put my ssd into a new machine and was able to boot into it. If I did this, will I have any issues? Will the motherboard/microsoft flag the os as a dupe or something? Will I have driver issues etc?
If this method is not possible, can anyone suggest alternatives? Alongside data i have a few anaconda environments etc I need to move and need to install various python libraries etc, and I’m dreading have to do all that setup again!

If installing a new OS on a freshly wiped drive is the best way to proceed then i’m happy to go down that route too.

Moving a drive+OS to new hardware is a 100% Maybe.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it fails. Sometimes it works sort of.

Your personal data can be moved easily.
OS, not recommended,
Applications can't be moved between OS's.

Thanks for your reply. So in your opinion i’m better off doing a fresh OS install, and then installing the software I need again?

Absolutely.

You can try just plugging it in, but don't be surprised if there are issues.
And be prepared for a full reinstall anyway.
