[citation][nom]eklipz330[/nom]there is a documentary of him and his coworkers on gametrailers......he really is a good guy, with a good heart. he comes off as very humble, i think he deserves these riches, even if minecraft isn't a completely original idea. i bought it in alpha, and played for a few weeks before getting bored. was it worth $10? hell fukin yes.[/citation]
Deserves? I doubt it. He's refused to listen to player suggestions, he's implemented useless features (glitchy beds, anyone?) before his promised modding support or proper texture pack support. He's implemented other's code with little credit given to them (not that they asked for it)... and he implemented it improperly at first.
I don't care for his business practices, either. Charging Beta buyers AGAIN for the full version? It's virtual LEGOS... it's not worth the $50 (20 for beta, 30 for full). Lastly, back in alpha, their website stated the game could be "returned for any reason within 7 days". Needless to say, they lied.
... or I wouldn't be bothering to post this.
On a (less pissed) side note, the game does not run well on laptops and older pcs. It works fine for me, but my buddy's new (low-end) laptop struggles, even with Optimine (which makes it barely playable). It wouldn't start at all on my family's old XPs.
