Hey
I have 2 rigs, first one is 5x1060's and second one is 2x1060's and I'm using pcie splitters to connect the gpu's to mobo with risers.
I tried to connect the 2x1060's to my second rig with a confirmed working pcie splitter and it worked, but now I received a new splitter and it doesn't work anymore.
I put the new splitter to my first rig and it works, and i'm using the old splitter (which worked before) with the second rig but i'm getting "missing unit" with hiveos.
The GPU's are working fine without the splitter, but I would like to connect more than 2 GPU to the rig...
System: ASRock Z77 Pro3, 8gb ddr3 memory, Corsair RM850X, i5 3570k

Could this be bad motherboard for mining? I tried to reset BIOS to default settings but that didn't work.. Any ideas?

There could be several issues. Power is pulled from the PCIe bus (up to 75watts) if your splitter doesn't have power support from a SATA or standard 4pin molex, you may be drawing too much from the bus slot.

You could also be out of bus lanes. 7* x4 = 28 lanes, and that's a lot for some motherboards.

The riser is getting power from the PCIe cable (just like in my first rig) and the riser is connected to PCIe splitter with USB cable.. This worked before, but now it is not for some reason..

It's working fine with 2 gpu without riser, I believe this mobo supports up to 4 or 5 gpu's..
