Missing Dial-Up button on XP LogOn Screen

I need to connect my home machine to my companys network using dial-up
networking or VPN and be authenticated under the companys domain.

I can connect using dial up networking and our VPN but I am not being
authenticated when I connect. Each resource I request I must give my domain
credentials (login) to use them.

My network admin says I should click the "LogOn using Dial-Up Networking"
when I log into my home machine but there is no such button. My home machine
is in a workgroup.

Can I from a home workgroup logon to a domain and be authenticated as a
domain user and if so how do I go about doing it?

Is the home machine running XP Home Edition? If yes, then this is why
you must be authenticated each time for each resource. XP Home cannot
join a domain although it can use domain resources after the user is
authenticated. If you need to do this constantly, consider upgrading to

The machine is XP Pro.

I also have an XP Pro Virtual PC that is exhibiting the exact same problem.

Then your next step is to talk to your company's IT people about the
problems you're having with their VPN setup.
