Whens the Rey going to change this thread title around?

Genesis 19:30-38

4 Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house. 5 They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them." 6 Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him 7 and said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing. 8 Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don't do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof."

Deuteronomy 22:13-21

1 He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord. 2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord.

If a man still prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall say to him, "You shall not live, because you have spoken a lie in the name of the Lord." When he prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall thrust him through. (Zechariah 13:3 NAB) - Kill false prophets.

I'm still not sure what you mean by "every Christian has their own version of what is TRUE Christianity". Are you saying that if you asked a Lutheran and a Catholic the question, " Do you believe that Christ died for your sins?", that you would get different answers? Are you saying that if you asked a Lutheran and a Catholic, "What are the central tenets Jesus preached on the sermon on the mount?", that you would get different answers? I would be extremely surprised if you did get different answers! Just because one denomination believes in the communion of the saints and another believes that you must reach an age of reason before choosing to be baptized does not change the common beliefs and tenets of Christianity as a whole. Undeniably, all Christian denominations have the same core beliefs with the primary differences being questions of dogma, customs, and observances.

Comparison of Christian Denominations' Beliefs

Have YOU ever read and given serious study to the Bible?

So you saying its alright to bash babies heads in, then as mingo posted, kill your children for believing in something else? Not to mention that if some thugs show up at your house wanting to rape some of your friends you have to give them your virgin daughters to screw instead? All of this is just fine as long as the context and specifics back it up? How can any of this be perceived as moral or right depending on the time it happened, who was involved and what they were trying to do? If this is what it takes to earn God's victory, flight, protection, wisdom and might then I think I will pass.

I have read some of the bible and I also realize how the different denominations have incredibly different views about some parts of the bible. Some revile each to the point of hate. Never given it serious study, but I have put some serious thought into the concept of religion as a whole.

Bash the skulls of children open against rocks for being from another civilization? No I don't think civilized societies still do this, if your referring to abortion then your wayyyy off was really happens.

Send the flood, I am a good swimmer.

Read the bible, God said He will not destroy the earth this way again, thus the rainbow and its constant reminder.
For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
http://bible.cc/1_corinthians/2-2.htm
The common theme amongst all Christians, as this is the reason, the payment of sin for all of mankind.

Now, its funny how easily people leave grace behind.
Some demand the law, they cant get around it.
Pointing out the law in the old testament for a given people isnt what Christianity is about at all, and if you knew the bible, you would surely know this
So, heres some grace

Just to try and steer this thread back to the Mitt......

A few Mormon rules that might make being president..... difficult.

Black people bear the curse of Cain and were born black because they were less valiant in the pre-existence (pre-Earth life) and sat on the fence as to whether to follow Satan/Lucifer or Jesus

A woman's purpose in heaven is solely to birth endless babies to populate the worlds created by their husbands. Billions and billions of babies!

Temple garments or underwear will protect you from physical harm or the grasp of Satan

Jesus atoned for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane, not on the cross.

Jesus wasn't born of a virgin. God had natural sex with Mary to impregnate Jesus

God is a resurrected, extra terrestrial, exalted human male who lives on a planet near a star called Kolob. See Book of Abraham, chapter 3 in Pearl of Great Price

Jesus was a polygamist.

Native Americans are one of the lost tribes of Israel.

Modern Mormon prophets are literally speaking the word of God.

What do you want me to explain about grace? The fact that it almost contradicts free will. That it only exists because God exists? Or the fact that it is completely based in illogical perceptions of a supreme being channeling this "grace" to the people to enable them to be like him/her/it?

So do you think a persons belief system affects their ability to lead? I mean if he literally thinks coffee is a bad thing then whats to stop him from imposing limits on coffee consumption? Or if whoever is the prophet today speaks a new law (His word is the word of God) would Mitt have to follow it?

Its interesting to think about because some of the legislation Romney will run into will directly cross the line of his religion.

And, given the veneration of John Smith and Muhammad, I would argue that both LDS and Islam are technically cults and not recognized religions like Zorastrianism, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, Sikhism, etc...

In terms of a non collaberating acts of events prior to their writings which are supposedly directed from the old and new testaments.
They both claim Crist, tho not in His real form

If you dont include grace in any summation on Christianity, then you arent talking about it period.
And someone applying it to Christianity at least has to know the basics, which I have yet to see from anyone here, tho not many have truky tried.
Not calling anyone out, but fail is fail so far.
As to someones ability to lead, I find and see the fear of the non believers amusing, maybe its the terrorists?
No, I dont believe this, nor would I even suspect it.
Similar things like trying to pin religious beliefs onto certain things, things which non believers simply dont understand at all, like Chik fil a, where many are so tired of their 1st ammendment rights being trampled upon as their main motivation, and support chik fil a, the tea party etc etc.
Dont fear what you dont know

Given we have a secular government and a 1st Amendment denying the federal government from establishing a national religion; Romney, Obama, or any candidate could belong to The Flying Spaghetti Monster Church of Neo-Druidism and Snake Worship for all I care.

What I care about is whether they believe in the American republic, that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land, and promote legislation and laws that reduce the size and influence of government, reduce the federal debt, and maintain the power and sovereignty of these United States.

Its like you didn't even read the link.....you know how long it took me digging through google to get that link for you?

...and which one is that?

15-25 minutes. Google really isn't the one-stop-shop for all our answers.

Actually I did read it, talk about cult like!It also reminded me of the issues raised with JFK being the first Roman Catholic president.

Ultimately though, I just don't care what religion the president is.

Would you care if the president was atheist?

I agree with Marv. No, I can not think of any reason why the President being an atheist would be an issue.

As I've mentioned before what I care about is whether they believe in the American republic, follow the Constitution as supreme law of the land, move to reduce the size and influence of government, reduce the federal debt, and maintain the power and sovereignty of these United States.
