Mix-Matching RAM

i5-2500K - ASUS P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3

What are the pros/cons that go along with using pairs of RAM that run at different voltages (i.e. 2 sticks low voltage 1.35V and 2 sticks 1.5V RAM) AND/or have difference capacities (i.e 2x4GB & and 2x2GB;;; 2x4GB@1.35V & 2x2GB@1.5V)?

In the worst case it will not work : )

In most cases it works just fine as modern mobos are made flexible to accept RAM combinations where they don't match.

Your mobo is great, do u OC? Mixing and OC'ing is OK if they are the same frequency and voltage.

I was planning on OC'ing but probably only to 4.5; don't plan on any higher than that. I haven't finished the build yet, still waiting on some parts. I just happened to see a deal for the 2x2GB@1.5V and thought about getting it. How do you go about setting the DRAM Frequency, CAS Timings and DRAM Voltage per rated spec. when you mix match (don't think you can use XMP, BIOS / AI Overclock Tuner -> XMP for this)?
