I built my current PC in 2013. I have yet to have a reason to tackle a new build. However, I do want to expand the memory to 32gb from 16gb (outside gaming I do a lot of video/image editing and I notice my software is pushing my memory limits).

I currently have :
https://www.newegg.com/corsair-16gb-240-pin-ddr3-sdram/p/N82E16820233281?Item=N82E16820233281

But I can't seem to find sticks of this model anywhere online.

So my question is (as I've never tried it) is their potential problems mixing two different brands of RAM? i.e. https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb... 14900&cm_re=PC3_14900-_-20-231-528-_-Product

Or would I be better off just buying 32gb of ram straight up? Things to consider, I would rather spend less, but the cost of 32gb over an additional 16 really isn't an issue

Solution
The timings are different. It may be difficult to get them to work together. The safest thing to do is to buy a matched set (all in one package) of 32 GB and try to sell your old set.
