I am having problems with opening many programs and utilities. Here is the
error message I am getting. Can anyone help me with why this has started
happening and what I can do to solve it?
-----MMC cannot open the file C:\Windows\System32\________.msc

This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was
created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not
have sufficient access rights to the file.----------

There is only one user on the computer.

many thanks--JJ

Try this: Go to Start | Run and type in 'cmd' (without the quotes) and then
at the command prompt type 'sfc /scannow' (again without the quotes). It
will ask for your XP CD.
