Ok, we have the same case. But my 2 fans at the back have been rewired to run half speed (in serial, both on the same 12v vonnector for less noise.) I have one in the front, but I connect it only when I have to edit long video. So I should be able to run it @ 200*13 with 1.775v. Maybe @ 1.75v? Just have to see if my cooler is good enough. I think it should...well I hope.

Thanks

Just remember, not all of these will hit 2.6GHz or 2.7GHz. 2.4GHz seems like it's almost guaranteed. Anything above that is a bonus. Also, 2.2GHz with a quiet/cool/low voltage system is a nice bonus too. That's why I like an adjustable fan. It is also why I bought those Zalman fans. They are running full speed right now, but come with the quiet adapter also, so you can cut the rpm and noise. Which I almost always do. i hate noise. Ilike the Antec SLK3700 cases with the quiet 120MM fan. Add a 2.2GHz mobile chip at under 1.6v, and a quiet cpu fan. Also a passive northbridge cooler and a passive GPU cooler. Ah nice. Perfect everyday general use computer.

I have mine running @ 2.6Ghz, but the system reboot in game. Maybe my cooler is not good enough. It is a cooler designed to be silent... 2.5GHz is the way to go for me now.

Yeah sounds like you need better cooling solutions. The CPU temp will jump when playing games and that incriment increases as the mhz and voltage increases. I found that out the hard way....

Ahh I havent ran into a mobile chip yet that cannot do at least 2.7ghz without the proper voltage. One of my chips can do 3ghz at 2.1v but dont ask how I cool it. The key word there is voltage. Of course at that mark its time for the noisy or messy cooling solutions.

Yeah, above 1.9v on air scares me. And like i said, come Summer, I'll back this thing down.

One of my chips can do 3ghz
😱 You manage to do any benchies at that speed? a 3Ghz AXP would be pretty awesome, but I'm guessing even watercooling wouldn't be good enough at those sorts of speeds/voltages 😱 & you'd need Vapochill or the like.

I did try water cooling and it did work mostly but encounter a strange reboot after 5 day of being on. I put the radiator in a cooler full of ICE and was 100% stable but was rediculous doing that. I used a peilter on it instead and works great. I dont do it anymore since despite it being stable 24/7 I knew that the chip will croak very quickly from the amount of juice I was puting into it. It worked at that speed and setting for about a month fine.

These chips seem to have varied thermal and electrical properties. Mine needs 1.8v to get to 2.4, and with the aeroflow idles at 46c. No two chips are the same. Some may not even make it to 2.4 The one constant is, the higher the voltage, the higher the temps.

mine will run at 2.4Ghz on like 1.55v...as for temps, i think when i had it that low it was like 35C idle and maybee 40-42 under prime 95...i have a thermalright slk-900 and a 92mm fan

Definately under 50c at load. Anything higher is when the temp jump dramatically.

what's the lowest multiplier one can use with a fsb of 200 at 1.65 vcore or lower(with complete stability)? I want to see the performance of a very cool and quiet cpu.

Do you mean lowest or highest multiplier? It will depend on the chip? One of mine does 12*200 fine at 1.65v the other does 11*200 at that voltage. If you meant lowest, let me know I'll try 10*200 and see how low the voltage can be lowered and remain stable.

133x17 instead of 200x11? i don't think so, leaving the frontside bus down at 133mhz will bottle neck the ram. the whole point of buying this card is so you can overclock it to ran as say a 3200+ or better, leaving the fsb at 133 would make buying this card useless.

The xp-m 2500+ is a 45 watt chip. It can be run much hotter. It can also be run as a good fast chip, without being too hot. Snaggle wants to keep the heat down, so I suggested a way for him to do just that.

Maybe, though that is a bit high. The thing I like about them is, that they are versatile. Some people want a fast quiet system, some just want something they can use in the summer without aircond. As for me, I just like playing with the multiplier.
