Hey,

I've got a motherboard with an intel 440BX chipset, which is spec'd with a 100 MHz FSB. Accordingly, it takes PC100 RAM. However, I can change the fequency via jumpers all the way up to 150 MHz. I was wondering: if I clocked up the bus to 133 MHz (so I can use some of the faster PIII chips), will the memory also run at 133 MHz (assuming I have PC133), or will it still be going at 100 MHz?

Yes, but your outdated memory might not work at that speed. I suggest you get a module of Cas2 PC133 256MB from Crucial, part number CT32M64S4D7E, for $32. There are a lot of cheap modules now that won't work with most chipsets because of their density, the one I recommended will. YOur board supports as many of these modules as you have slots.

Well I've got some Kingston ValueRAM and some Samsung RAM, and the 440BX I have can take up to 256 MB sticks in its slots, which I'll be filling with 128 modules anyway...
As far as densities, the Kingston has 4 chips and the Samsung has 8.

Why wouldn't PC133s run at 133 MHz? And is CAS2 RAM the same as CL2 RAM, or not quite?

8 chips gives you 128MB, 4 chips gives you 64MB, PC133 will work fine as 133, Cas2 PC133 will work fine at Cas2 133MHz.

What am I saying? If the 4 chip module is 128MB, I doubt it will be read at full size.

Also bear in mind though that you may not reach such speeds for other reasons also.
The BX boards dont have a 1/4 PCI divider, so all your PCI and AGP devices will be running well out of specification. Some may work, others may not.
