Hey glorious friends,

I did upgrade my rig a couple days ago with a sweet i7 7700k + MSI Z270 SLI PLUS + 16Gb DDR4 3200Mhz.

Everything runs fine (well, that cpu is a bit hot) but I can't fully shutdown my computer...

When selecting shutdown on Windows (not sleep mode or anything), monitor goes black, HDD goes off, but everything else is still running.

That means, every LED Strips, Mobo LED, fan, watercooler are still on... Even the PSU fan. In the debug display, the white cpu led goes on after the 'shutdown' weird.

I tried everything I could think of but could not point out the problem, I think I will RMA the motherboard.

I tried with minimum device, one RAM stick, tried every slots, switched PSU, switched cables, switched SSD, reformatting, playing with BIOS settings, power management settings and so on....

Does someone have an other idea ?

Its your Windows installation, I had the same problem, I reformatted, and re-installed Windows and everything worked fine after that, I guess they botched something in one of the updates, it was fine before I updated.

Following up on HEXiT's suggestion, try disconnect the pwr switch from the motherboard.

Have contacted msi about it?

I'd suggest an bios update if there is one available, but would be good if you can get a reply from msi first. Don't forget to clear cmos after updating bios firmware if you do just so the cmos is properly updated with new information. Common problem that, a bios update suppose to fix a certain problem but doesn't for some people until they get fed up and remove the cmos battery then woah! :)

Bios is updated, CMOS was cleared twice.
Formated with W10 twice. I'll try a third time...

I did not contact MSI, because their RMA are really long, I'm waiting for my reseller to open, it will be much more quicker ^^

After formatting and re-installing windows, try the shutdown feature before updating, then monitor the updates, see which one is causing the issue, I cant remember now which one it was for me as it was a couple of months ago.

You guys proposing everything I already tried ^^

Formated for the third time, no update, still the same problem (as espected).

I'm gonna RMA it tomorrow, thanks again for trying fellas.
