I recently purchased a kit with 2 Actiontec ECB2500C devices, with the goal of hard obtaining a hard wired internet connection to my Roku located in another room. If this works, I plan to expand to multiple devices and tv's. However, I have run into a problem and I wondering if anyone has any advice.

I have internet and cable service through Time Warner. I have an Arris SB6141 Modem, and TP Link C7 wireless router.

First I hooked up one EBC2500C per the instructions - coax wall outlet -> splitter -> EBC2500C "in" port (and the other end off the splitter to the modem). Then ethernet connected to a lan port on router. After a minute or so, all lights were on the EBC2500C (power/ethernet/coax). Success.

Move to second connection - coax wall outlet -> EBC2500C "in" port, ethernet EBC2500C to Roku. Within a minute or so, all 3 lights were up. I booted up the Roku and it connected to the internet and started working immediately.

Impressive - for about 30 minutes. Then the Roku lost connection to the internet. All 3 lights were still on the EBC2500C connected to the Roku. I checked the EBC2500C connected to the router, and the coax light is OFF. I have tried rebooting the device, resetting the device, removing the splitter and running the cable through the EBC2500C as a pass-through to the modem. And I have tried swapping the 2 EBC2500C devices, and no matter what I do the COAX light will not come back on to the unit connected to the router.

My theory is that this was somehow visible on TWC's network, or causing a conflict and they have done something to disable my device or block the operating frequency making the devices useless. Is there anything else that it could be, and has anyone run into a similar problem? Please keep in mind that it worked great for about 30 minutes. I have just ordered a POE filter (which I should have done first), but skeptical that this is going to solve the problem.

Any advice or feedback appreciated.

Do you have the whole house DVR boxes that time warner uses. These use moca...or at least the some variant... that will cause issue with some moca boxes.

The generally do not care if you use moca but you do need a filter to prevent the signal going outside your house. Not real sure if they have a method to detect that but I suspect if they did they would just install a POE filter. They many times do this by default.

If you have any ability to separate the connection coming into the house from the rest of the house coax it would make things easier to test at least. You would plug the modem into the incoming connection which no connection to the house coax and then plug the moca box to the house coax only.

Thanks Bill. I don't have the whole home dvr service. The only time warner hardware I have is one hd box and it's not a dvr. I only have this because they said I had to have it in order to keep my cable service which I'm streaming through the TWC app on multiple tv's. I'm going to try the poe filter. If that doesn't work I guess I will return the devices and try to figure out a way to run ethernet throughout my house. This was a much easier solution if I can get it to work.
