It looks pretty good iluvgillgill ... from some of the things i've read so far though the artic cooler has come out on top. I'm not sold either way, and have even looked at the gts models geofelt recommended. Trying to get something that will fit with my budget ... even reading up on some of the gts models more heat/noise issues. I really didn't think this would be that difficult when I began looking...

if you're not going SLi, you can mount the HS backwards almost, so it wraps around to the opposite side of the card, and put a fan on there. then, you get all the slots below your PCIEx16 slot :)

Is either the 512-P3-N841-A3 or 512-P3-N841-AR good cards should I go the GTS route? Still not sold on whether to do that or go with a regular GT... trying to keep it down to appease the wife, while trying to get something that will last for a while. I do like the GT versions, from what I've seen... last two video cards have been ATI, so this would be a return to Nvidia for me, which from what I've read appears to be the better way to go any ways.

is that an ECS board by any chance? looks like my old ECS Nforce 570 SLI socket 775 😛

anyway, it should fit, look how tight mine is 😛

i have an ultra x-2 connect 550w.

uh, by gt model do you mean the brand? it was an MSI.

EDIT:

oops, just realized i didn't reply to this:

HS=heatsink

😗

oh duh, yeah, I guess I should have been able to guess heat sink. Which particular MSI one did you go with? I hear the stock cooling on the msi is a little bit better than some of the others.

nope, the same exact reference cooler on mine. you might find one with an upgraded cooler, i'm not sure.

i bought my 8800gt before the gts 512 came out..
i spent 260+50(HS)=310$ total on the card. for that money i could have just gotten the GTS with a nice stock cooler, but whats the fun of waiting 😛

No old card to sell... this is for my new system (can with a standard onboard video). Bought the system due to price for a quad core knowing I'd have to upgrade the video card.

Out of curiousity, how do the Palit cards stack up? Such as the 8800GT 1024MB HDMI DDR3 MEM DUAL DVI HDCP - NE/880TSXT302 and the Palit GeForce 8800GT 600MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ DDR3 PCI-E DVI-I HDCP HDTV Out Video Card ? thnx.

Ive had two palit 8800GTX's since launch thats 16 months trouble free being pushed to the limit at 2048x1536 in games etc. However the early 8800 GTX's were all made in the same factory regardless of which manufacturer stuck their stickers on it, so the palit cards were identical to the xfx etc. No idea how current models are.
