when i'm on the phone and someone tries to log-on to the
internet via the internal modem, the modem picks up the
line and they can hear my conversation... how can you
turn this off in windowsXP ? I tried modem settings
speaker off but that doesn't seem to work... any
suggestions ?

Thanks... tj

The modem speakers can only usually be controlled by proper drivers.
You need to check and see if there are XP specific drivers for your
modem. Also, if the computer tries to dial out while you are on the
phone, you are going to hear it no matter what (but this usually doesn't
happen since the computer listens for a dial tone before dialing out).
