FYI Steam monitors your installed programs. Hardware statistics collection also includes collection of data of your installed software. They are publicly displayed in their website http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/

Although they state that these statistics are confidential, it bothers me to know that they're also collecting software info. Although they're supposed to be personally unidentifiable, they're still linked to your account. Given the right time, the right moment, and the right opportunity, It's a matter of time before they give those information to the feds. Valve is becoming no different from EA.

Steam is only as fast as your internet connection. If you have a download cap of 768kbps and you're doing a lot of background downloading and torrenting, steam will be very slow. Offline mode is very unreliable. The morning you wake up and you find out your DSL modem cannot acquire an IP address, steam will not go to offline mode simply because it wasn't prepped up.

From the looks of it, battlefield 3 won't have an offline mode. Regardless, I will be buying the game anyway. Hopefully some patch will enable offline mode in the near future.
