Hello,

Info:
OS- Vista 64 bit
Video card- 4850 X2
CCC- 9.6
Steam installed on my computer (may be relevant)

Today I went to do a fresh install of catalyst 9.6. I uninstalled the 9.5 drivers via control panel, used driver sweeper in safe mode, rebooted and installed 9.6.

When I went to reboot from the 9.6 install, I got the "Mom.implementation error."

I installed .net framework 3.5 sp1 to attempt to fix this issue, but it didn't work.

Any other suggestions about how to resolve this issue? I read a forum post suggesting to install every single .net framework w/ all CCC/drivers uninstalled, but given how long the 3.5 install took, I'd prefer another method.

Have you tried NOT using driver sweeper? Just uninstall? Ive heard DS removes more than it should at times. Id remove your current drivers, go back to your old cd drivers, then update again, see if that works

Thanks for the replies.

Tried Jaydee's suggestion, didn't work =(

And no, I didn't try uninstalling drivers w/o using driver sweeper before this problem occurred. I tried installing 9.6 w/o uninstalling old and it worked fine in some games, terrible in others. Now basically all of my games can work, but I don't have CCC.

http://www.ursoftware.com/ Your Uninstaller is a much better program that ds hands down..:)
P.S.. I use nvidia and have never uninstalled before installing new drivers..:)

So whats it doing exactly ? I have heard of it before, someone i know had it on there PC a while ago.
It came up during instalation but they just pressed OK or closed the box (cant remember which) and the drivers carried on installing and worked fine.

Hey jason11,

I had this same problem last night as I was trying to install the new 9.6.

What I did was uninstall normally, reboot into safe mode, and then run the 9.6 installation file and select uninstall. Then, reboot again in safe mode, run DS, and then restart into normal windows. Then, I installed the new 9.6 and it all worked fine.

Let me know if that helps.

Thanks for the additional replies.

I resolved this problem by restoring my system to two days ago. It messed up CCC but it still worked in some ways. I reinstalled CCC and now I'm good to go (yay.)
