Monitor and gpu question

I have a gtx 1080 (non ti) gpu and am looking at higher end monitors. The question is if I got something with 144hz and 1ms (looking at the new qled 49 inched from samsung.. dilemma is it's freesync) would I have tear and input issues without the g sync? TIA

If your willing to increase the display lag slightly, I can’t remember how much, vsync is usable. It works like gsync but introduces input lag.
