Monitor blinks black

when i boot me pc and the desktop loads my monitor blinks black for a second then comes back on. its never done this til today. i did notice when it goes black it looks like a little white cursor or something down in the lower right corner does a quick swipe. thanks.

windows xp sp2
radeon 4650 1gb agp8x
amd athlon xp 2400
asus a7n8x deluxe
1gb ddr400 pc3200 dual channel

if it happens when loading the desktop - and never happens at any other time this shouldnt be an issue.

my old pc used to do this when starting up (it was adjusting display settings). it never did this when brand new but once it started getting alot of crud buildup and started getting typical XP slowdown i started to see one or two flickers when it loaded the settings.

nvidia 7800gtx
amd athlon64 3500+
2gb ram

sounds like your pc is just showing its age when starting up.

It seems more to it than that to me only because I recently upgraded it with a radeon 4650 1gb video card and 1gb of ddr400 pc3200 dual channel memory kit. It didnt start then either but a few days after I updated to sp3 and then it started.

sounds like your pc is just showing its age when starting up.

It's normal.

I suppose. Thing is...its never done this till now. Had the pc for 8yrs and monitor for 3yrs.

mine never did it until it hit about 4 years old. windows xp startups get slower and slower as time goes on.... you could try a good defrag and general cleanup. this might work or might not. in any case if its a single blink its no issue.
