Monitor button keeps flashing

Hello this is my first post, my problem is that my dell monitor's (I think I've had it since 2007) button started flashing all of sudden and I have to wait a lot before the screen actually turns on.

What can I do? Also I switched from windows vista to win7 a year a go and kept that same monitor if that means anything.

I'd replace the monitor, unless you can replace components in it, not worth fixing.
