Monitor hardware RAID in Linux (Debian)

smartmontools have some limitations for disk behind RAID http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/smartmontools/wiki/Supported_RAID-Controllers

My Controller is
M-Cab Sata3 + Pata Raid Card (Marvell RAID)

It is operating in Debian storage server as RAID 1 with 2 WD Caviar GREEN WD20EARX SATA3 2TB

Can I use smartmontools and which RAID type have to choose? (possible a "-d marvell" option?)

is there a generic tool to monitor health of disks behind a RAID controller (Linux - Debian)?

see what google brings up, and have you posted in the distros forums? i like linux, but im far from a guru, so thats where i would start.
