Hey!
Have this problem where the display only goes 24hz.

I can change the refresh rate only some times when unplugging and plugging power cable back in.
Otherwise the curtain only shows 24hz.
And the time i got it to 100hz (the highest refresh rate in the curtain) the screen flickered alot and went back to 24hz and no other option to increase refresh rate.

tried plugging the cord (displayport) into another pc and it will run at 60hz but keeps flickering

wtf is wrong with this monitor?
Everything worked before i moved my pc.

monitor: ROG Swift PG278QR 144hz (165hz boost)

Seems like there's something going on with the DP cable. Try turn it around. Not saying direction matters but to get you to replug both ends, especially pc side - if all you did was swap monitor without replugging pc side. Make sure graphics card is properly secured too, maybe it moved slightly preventing DP cable making a full connection to a graphics card.

I run dual monitor, one 60hz and one main 144hz . The second one (60hz) runs at right refresh rate with hdmi if that matters but main one 144hz runs at 24hz with displayport. Do you think the displayport cable in broken? Its about 4months old.

Possibly. Age doesn't really matter, either it was poorly constructed or something happened to it, probably not a fault of your own. Only way forward really is to try another cable.

Borrow one from a friend if possible. Some cable recommendations if you can't. Club3D and Accel. Couple Vesa certified DP companies i know of.

I bought a new cable DP 1,4. can now run 60hz but keeps flickering if i try to turn it to 144hz. Wtf is the issue?

-EDIT
Now it max works at 85hz but twitches every 30-60sec. Is the monitor broken?

Take the monitor to a pc store, they should be able to help determine that quickly. I've had bad DP cables before, flickering at 144Hz in intervals. But that may have been due to length, 3m, not sure. Had to settle for the 1m cable the monitor came with. Wouldn't go over 2m if i bought again, and making sure it's Vesa certified brand.

I tried today and the monitor runs at 85Hz but flickers once in a while. If I try to plug in my secondary monitor (HDMI) the main one goes crazy and flickers a fckton. Wtf is the issue? GPU? I tried choosing different DP outputs from GPU but no luck. For referance my gpu is 2080Ti with Rog Swift PG278QR 144hz

Being capped at 1440p 85 Hz means the connection failed link training for HBR2, and is falling back to HBR speed. Often this indicates an inadequate cable, but if it flickers also at HBR speed anyway, and the HDMI port is also flickering, most likely the failure is internal to the monitor, not a cable issue.
