Im trying to switch from a 1050ti to 3060ti
I got a new monitor. The old monitor only has dvi or vga for connecting the gpu but the new one only has hdmi and dp ports
If i plug in the new monitor into the 1050ti using the dp port it works, however it doesnt work with the 3060ti
I also cant test the 3060ti with the old monitor as it only has dp and hdmi ports, but I know the gpu is fine
If i try booting up into safe mode with the new monitor it doesnt work for both gpus.
I have slots for dvi and hdmi on my motherboard but not for dp, however plugging any cable in wont display anything, i never managed to use the integrated graphics on it
Everything boots up, i know my pc starts because the fans change color after it starts which means the rgb controlling program loaded up at startup, the monitor just wont pick up on the signal

new monitor: Viewsonic VX2719-PC-MHD
old monitor: Philips 246V5LHAB/00 (a really old model)
old gpu: 1050ti
new gpu: 3060ti
motherboard: h410m s2h v3
psu: 750w
display port cable is the one that came with the monitor (pretty sure its 1.2)

Tried reinstalling drivers (steps are below):
download driver .exe file for 3060ti
unplug internet cable
boot up pc in safe mode with new monitor and 1050ti
ddu : uninstall and shutdown
boot up pc again and install the drivers from the .exe file (1050ti still plugged in)
msconfig uncheck boot into safe mode
shutdown pc
change gpu and start pc
plug internet cable back
Tried resetting cmos battery but monitor doesnt work and still has orange led

How do know the GPU is fine?

same cable?

what CPU do you have as if it doesn't have an IGPU, you won't get a picture.

I wonder if its the new monitor somehow.

i tested the gpu extensively before buying it on someones computer .
yes i used the same cable that came with the monitor
i have an i3 10100f, so now i see why i cant use the integrated gpu

i think it has something to do with the monitor not working in safe mode

Yes, its a trend that I wish Intel had not started.

what make/model PSU do you have? How old is it?

old - https://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/246V5LHAB_00/lcd-monitor

new - https://www.viewsonic.com/au/products/lcd/VX2719-PC-MHD#specs

only difference is refresh rate but that would be an illogical difference, the lower card unlikely to push better than the new one.

I wonder if new monitor would work at the same computer you tested GPU on, with GPU installed. Then we can tell if its one or other... or something else.

I tried to plug the gpu in the old monitor using a dvi - hdmi cable but it still doesnt work... is my gpu dead?? the rgbs work, and i cant tell if the fans work or not as they dont spin when the gpu isnt hot
