Hello gamers so few weeks ago i send my PC to a repairman because my it started blue screening and sometimes won't give me any display. The serviceman said that the HDD caused the blue screen issue and the motherboard caused no display issue. So what i want to know is can a HDD really cause bluescreens? i remember using a program called Victoria to see any issues with my HDD and it said the drive was in a good condition. The hard drive is pretty old and i do remember seeing the current pending sector count increase from 0 to 1 so could that be the issue?

PC specs
Core 2 Quad q6600
GT1030
4GB RAM
Win 7 64bit

This motherboard has an Intel north and southbridge, plus a Winbond Super I/O chip. Are your keyboard and mouse connected by USB or PS/2?

Chipset : Intel Q33 + ICH7 , Super I/O: Winbond W83627DHG chip

So again, 100% of the time are you seeing the BIOS screen when you physically turn on the system?

And when you run crystaldiskinfo can you share with us what the result is?

Next thing would be to REALLY test the memory, using memtest86.
No the system boots and sometimes during booting eg; it either freezes at the motherboard logo or windows loading logo this doesn't happen all the time it mainly freezes after the PC boots up. I've already ran like 5 tests with memtest and crystaldiskinfo said my HDD is in good condition.

how many passes with memtest86 did you do? You need to run multiple passes.

Yep but the PC technician said it was an issue with the mobo and HDD. The mobo was causing the no display issue and HDD caused the bluescreens.
The odds of it being 2 independent issues arbitrarily plaguing the computer at the same time is not impossible but highly improbable. You likely have one issue causing multiple issues. Do you have any spare components to start a process of elimination for the parts that you have not tested yet like a CPU, MOBO, storage device, PSU?

If I had to guess right now I would say that is is just a failing HDD.

I mean its older hardware but unlikely that you haver 2 failures at the same time. Possible but unlikely.

If the HDD passes crystaldiskinfo then its fine. If you followed the Windows corruption steps I posted earlier than your windows install is probably fine. If memtest passed then thats fine.

It leaves us with the motherboard which now you did remove the GPU. Its possible the storage controller is the thing causing the issue, not that it matters because you can't replace that part, you'd need a new board.

However as a last resort I would consider backing up your data and formatting the system and reinstalling Windows to see what happens.

Yeah I'm gonna replace it but also keep in mind that this HDD is from 2009 and when i used it for the first time (I got it from a friend) it showed an error on crystaldiskinfo on current pending sector so i zeroed my HDD and that error went away.

2009 is well past the useful life of a consumer HDD.

Its possible you do have come bad sectors you aren't seeing, or there may be any of a number of other problems, which is why we wanted you to post the actual crystaldiskinfo screens and run a full test.

Or you could just swap to a new hard drive and see what happens. Again though this system is ancient, you may want to consider how much money you're actually spending to revive obsolete hardware.
