I on on a budget and trying to upgrade for gaming. My question is will this mobo 'Intel DQ45CB" be compatible with a 'Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q9650
(12M Cache, 3.00 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB)' and a 700 series nvidia gpu?
yup 😛 however, i would recommend a R9 285 or lower gpu, as the cpu will bottleneck anything higher. that means gtx 760 or lower for nvidia 😛
Would you recommend a better cpu as to not bottleneck the gpu? I am new to building my own computer, and on a budget, but would spending a little more for a better cpu be worth it?
would the 'Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9550 2.83GHz 1333MHz 12MB LGA775 CPU, OEM' (costs $30 more) be a worse choice than the 'AMD Athlon II X4 750K CPU - (Black) (Quad Core, 3.40GHz, 4MB, 100W, Socket FM2'?

well, the athlon would need a new motherboard. if medium graphics are ok, the core 2 quad is fine.

Should i just stick with my GT 630 for the gpu and upgrade to the quad core for my cpu, since it will bottleneck the gpu is there a point in upgrading the gpu?

eh, up to you, if you can play on low settings till you get more money, then yes, get a new cpu and mobo, like an fx 8320
Bottlenecking is one of the most misused concepts on the forums.
There is ONLY a bottleneck if the CPU is throttling at 100% Usage (above 90% can count also), that is when graphics cards are limited. If your current games you play do not get to that point, there is NO bottleneck.

If i am just playing Counter Strike: Global Offensive their is 100% use.
My current CPU is: Intel Core 2 duo CPU E7500 @2.9 GHz
GPU: GT 630
So it's probably just because my current PC is shit, but yes it gets to 100%
then there is a bottleneck. Upgrade your CPU/Motherboard first.
Okay thanks, looking into : FX-8320 and a North Bridge AMD 970 & South Bridge AMD SB950 Chipset ATX DDR3 800 AMD AM3+ Motherboard (? still not sure on mobo ?)
Gigabyte 970A-UD3P (8+2 phase power design! Great for FX OC, best 970 board for that.)
or
intel i5 4670/k
ASRock Z97 Extreme4 with "k" or ASUS H97-PLUS/PRO if you get the 4670.
intel option is more expensive.
Is the amd mobo going to last if i want to upgrade the ram or the gpu?
and any good "futureproof" (i know future proof doesn't exist) cheap-ish cases that you know of?
yes, the Gigabyte 970A-UD3P is an excellent board. It'll be great for later upgrades.
Cooler Master HAF 912 is an excellent case for an excellent price. HAF -> High Air Flow.
Would it be better to go with a full case, I really don't want to have to upgrade it for a good while, or is there really no need? Thank you for the help.
