Hey guys. I need some help making a decision. I want to upgrade my i5 2400 because of bottleneck with my GTX 980 AMP gpu, but my Motherboard's best supported CPU is an i7 3770k, which would be quite a <Mod Edit> upgrade. Recently I cam across a guy selling a motherboard, Asus GRYPHON Z97 ARMOR EDITION, with 16gb of RAM, and an i7 4790k, for £150. Would getting this be a good idea?

My full specs:
Intel Core i5-2400
ASUS P8067 Motherboard
Zotac GTX980 Amp Edition 4GB
16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3
OCZ 600W 80 Plus PSU
Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD Boot Drive
Samsung 1TB HDD

Your are buying a very outdated platform.
^ that doesnt mean its not good, but you can get something better with better upgrade path and performance.
Something like this for 250euros will be way better than both 3770K/4790K:

Certainly better than what you have now or first option also good enough for your GPU. Although it's pretty obsolete I doubt you can get anything much better for that money as you would also need DDR4 RAM. . If you have retail version of windows, you don't need to buy them again but you will be advised to reinstall windows after swap, so get your license ready.
