Question Motherboard Standoffs

I'm new to PC building and looking to upgrade my motherboard in my pc. The company that provided my computer didn't send any extra mounting screws, so I only have 6. Is there any problem with only screwing in 6 out of 9 as long as all 9 standoffs are installed?

Best to have all 9 for stability.

Personally I would get 3 more screws (online or from a local hardware store) just to be sure the MB doesn't get stressed/damaged supporting the weight of the cpu cooler and GPU.
If you carefully choose which screws to leave out it probably wouldn't matter but why risk your MB for 3 screws you can buy for a few cents each.

If the board isn't stable it could short out the setup.

Also, what thread is the standard for the screws? M3 or M4?

Honestly, I'm not sure but if you take one to a local hardware store they should be able to give the exact specs for it.
