Motherboard to pair with an E6600?

Hello I'm looking to buy a nice motherboard to pair with an E6600.
My priorities are:
1. Overclocking
2. Cooling & Stability
3. Price
4. Placement

I do not care about SLi but the option would be nice.

I've looked at the P5B Deluxe and it looks to be a good contender so that might be what I'll buy but I like input.

I also looked at the P5N-E SLi but I found it had some problems, it being bleeding edge technology (Cooling, Placement of things)

And I looked at the eVGA 680i board which I would love to get but it seems to be outside of my budget at the moment.

Im not really looking to go much higher than ~$200

I'm not sure what it is but the P5B Deluxe just has this sort of draw to it... so I think I might be going with that. (My only concern about it is that it doesn't support 1333 FSB CPUs but that shouldn't matter right?)

Don't forget the 650i MB's. They are good for overclocking and cheaper than the 680i's.

Ok - the name threw me off. But heard some good things about the 650i.

Very competitive against the 680i which is one of the best for overclocking.

ever consider foxconn 975x7ab series motherboard comes with digital vrm and crossfire capable? the price is below $200. a good value performer in my humble opinion..

oh yeah, the gigabyte s3 and or ds3 series motherboard are a good budget overclocker.

don't forget to take a look at biostar tforce p965 series too..

I was about to say 650i as well, didn't recognize the Asus board name.

If you can't wait for more 650i boards to hit market then maybe the Gigabyte or other Asus boards would be your best bet. The Abit 965 board is also a good choice. Not sure it OCs quite as high as the others but have seen some very good OCs out of it.

These will of course cut out possibility of SLI in the future. Its either that or jump to the 680i unless you can find some way around your issue with the 650i.

As for the P5B Deluxe, its a fine board. As for the FSB support. As the Ram makers continue to fight it out for OC supremacy we'll probably end up seeing speeds nearly that high on most boards with BIOS revisions I hope. Even if it never gets that far, you won't see much difference in games between the same system with say 1066-1200FSB OC and one with 1333 FSB.

Well I'm pulling my hair out whether I should get a 650i board or a P5B deluxe board. Is it possible that you could insert a 1333 FSB CPU into the P5B Deluxe and have it run without a performance hit? I'm really torn between the Asus 650i (P5N-E SLi) and the P5B Deluxe for really stupid reasons.

for the P5B deluxe I see it has great cooling and can hit some crazy high FSB (525) and has all the nice features of current Asus boards but:

Can it not take 1333 FSB CPUs? (or can it without a performance hit?)

I would like to have an upgrade path.

Then the P5N-E SLi is affordable and very current. It looks like a pretty good layout (not like the P5B though) and it supports 1333 FSB CPUs for sure. But:

The NB gets hot and the SB is naked (no heatsink/cooling whatsoever), if I were to get an Thermalright HR-05 SLi and put the optional 70mm fan on it would that be adequate cooling to hit 400 FSB with an E6600 (my goal)?

And one last thing: would it either of these boards accept This G.Skillmemory?

Edit: it could be a few weeks before I actually get a board so might something with better cooling that is 650i come out by then? I'm going to wait but until then I would like to choose a board now.

It's not as well proven as the intel M/B's and has undergone a number of bios fixes, but that's what you get with bleeding edge tech (makes things interesting).

According to the write up the only difference between that and the other EVGA is the warranty....the $249 one has a lifetime while this one has a 2 year one. How important is that?

probably not very. Depending on your needs you will be ready to buy a new motherboard by the end of the warranty. Even then the mobo isn't just going to up and die after two years

If you can pay 200 why you do not put 9$ more and conisder AW9D-MAX, many peope got really good results with E6600 on this Mobo

Also when you decide to buy the E6600 do not forget to take a look at the combo deals under it, some times there are good ones with good savings

No thanks I think the 680i Chipset is better (for me) than the 975X. It was basically a choice between 650i, 680i, and P965 chipsets
