My mouse sometimes freezes for between 2-5 seconds when I am ingame every 3-15 minutes(CS:GO, Minecraft and so on) It goes away if I violently shake the mouse left and right across the mousepad or it could just be because of the short amount of time it freezes.
I have made no changes to my computer in the months leading up to when the problem first occured.
The mouse still has it´s lights on and no USB unplugging sound is heard when it happens.
My keyboard is plugged in via USB and it works fine when the mouse freeze happens.

The problem could be happening when I am not ingame too but I have not noticed this.

Mouse: Steelseries Rival
Latest drivers installed from SteelSeries Engine 3.0

Computer Specs:
GPU: MSI GTX 980 Gaming
CPU: Intel i5 4690k Overclocked to 4,4 GHz
SSD: Samsung SSD PRO 850-Series 512GB
HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB
RAM: Corsair 8GB CL9 1600Mhz VENGEANCE LP
Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 7
Power Supply: Corsair TX750M 80+ Bronze Modular
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
Windows 7 64bit Home Premium installed on the SSD

Any ideas on what the problem could be and how to fix it? Has the mouse broke, is it software related or maybe something to do with my MOBO?
I´m sorry if my wording is a bit off, English is not my first language.

What I have tried:
Turned off all the power saving settings for my mouse (even the root HUB one).
Plugged it into different USB ports (I only have USB 3.0 ports).
Played with SteelSeries Engine turned off (no difference)
Reinstalled SteelSeries Engine (no difference)
Used a different mouse without any issues whatsoever
Used a q-tip/tops to clean the sensor (no difference)

Solution
It's possible that something is up with the mouse laser

First, make sure that the mouse laser is clear of dirt. Uninstall and re-install mouse drivers.

Trying another mouse is a good idea to find out whether it's not just the one mouse having the issue on the same computer.

I have now updated what I have tried. Any other ideas? If it is a physical problem with the mouse it could be hard to prove to the retailer since the problem mostly happens ingame and is kind of rare.

Im starting to have this problem with mine too.

Just randomly stops working for 1/2 a second... quite annoying. Sounds like a fault :|

Think i'll be buying a zowie fk1 next time....

**SOLVED**

It was a physical problem with the mouse. I have bought a new one since the retailer couldn´t find anything wrong with the old one. The new mouse of the same make and model I bought works perfectly.
