Question Mouse problem.

I have been using a logitech g5 mouse for almost 20 years and i think the button pad is about to break because it feels very thin.

I purchased a steel series rival 3 i plugged it in and saw the message new hardware detected and i then opened a browser and something very strange happened.
After about 5 minutes the mouse pointer just froze on screen , i used the same usb as i had used my old one on , i had to use my old one to shut my pc down as i did not want to do a hard shut down with the power button. I tried it several times on usb2 and 3 with the same results , i never got chance to see if their was any drivers for it but my reliability monitor said driver was installed ??? .

As i say i have no idea why this happened , i got a refund and now have razor cobra or logitech g502 on my list of replacements .... whats the chances of this happen again.
I have locking finger problems so wont be programming the buttons so would i still need to download software for the mouse of my choice anyway

probably the steel series installed a new firmware and was rebooting the mouse while you shut the system down, this corrupted the update and the mouse was bricked.

usually no additional software is needed, especially if you don´t want to program the buttons or change the RGB lights

so maybe if i had waited a bit longer the mouse pointer could have sorted itself out ???

mice today install software from a little storage inside the mice. If this software found an update, it could be that waiting could have helped. But usually you would have been asked, if you want to update it or not. Might be just a faulty mouse either you had.

Personally I would chose the razer cobra because of the price. The Logitech should be great as well.
