Just poking at you. Besides they were civilian cities after all. Bombs dont really care if you are a soldier or a toddler.

Mainland Japan would have never been invaded, there was no reason. Japan was already in the process of surrendering. m not sure where you get the American casualties at over 1 million, maybe you were reading the papers in 1945...? The real number has been put at 50,000 American deaths to take over enough of japan to surrender. http://articles.latimes.com/2005/aug/05/opinion/oe-bird5 a quick google search would have cleared that up.

So educate thyself before thee wreck thyself.

I find this interesting if derailing. My dad was born in Nagasaki and lived there for almost 15 years.

Isnt it true that japan essentially ran out of oil in August? Weren't American forces already conventionally bombing Tokyo and Kyoto for months, having complete air superiority? Were there already blockades up for months denying the Japanese resources?

From the man himself Eisenhower:

"In 1945 Secretary of War Stimson, visiting my headquarters in Germany, informed me that our government was preparing to drop an atomic bomb on Japan. I was one of those who felt that there were a number of cogent reasons to question the wisdom of such an act. During his recitation of the relevant facts, I had been conscious of a feeling of depression and so I voiced to him my grave misgivings, first on the basis of my belief that Japan was already defeated and that dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary, and secondly because I thought that our country should avoid shocking world opinion by the use of a weapon whose employment was, I thought, no longer mandatory as a measure to save American lives."

Fleet admiral Leahy (Nimitz and MacArthur also opposed the bomb):

The Japanese had, in fact, already sued for peace. The atomic bomb played no decisive part, from a purely military point of view, in the defeat of Japan." Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, Commander in Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.........The use of [the atomic bombs] at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender because of the effective sea blockade and the successful bombing with conventional weapons... The lethal possibilities of atomic warfare in the future are frightening. My own feeling was that in being the first to use it, we had adopted an ethical standard common to the barbarians of the Dark Ages. I was not taught to make war in that fashion, and wars cannot be won by destroying women and children......."

As interesting as I think this is if you want to pursue it make a new thread, so we can get back to wackjobs and youtube videos.

I think you could make that argument. But this is another example of completely innocent civilians paying the price for war.

It's been interesting keeping up with this thread.

I am wholly convinced that Muslims who do not live in America can never understand American culture and are incapable of distinguishing between mainstream American culture and popular American culture. They will never understand that the 1st Amendment and our right to free speech and the non-establishment of a national religion are of the greatest freedoms to be guaranteed to American citizens. They will never understand that living in a secular society is the only way they can truly realize personal responsibility and fulfill their potential unencumbered by nationalized religious morality and societal laws. If there is any conversion that I wish for, it is that all Muslims denounce their existing citizenships and become a American citizens. That they realize the natural and inalienable rights guaranteed to them by their Creator which have been embodied within the United States Constitution and embrace what is means to live in a free and secular nation.

Mike Tyson also stopped drinking and became a Vegan. What's funny about that though is I don't see or hear People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) or Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) crowing over the fact that he doesn't drink or eat animals anymore. I think you are just reaching for any excuse to continue the Muslim narrative regardless of how loosely based it is.

Given the fact that Hollywood is still largely run by Jews, saying half of Hollywood actors have converted may be a bit of an overstatement.

I applaud your posting....

Hahahahaha! Okay mubin, okay...

The reason I laugh is because in your above reply, you are admitting in direct contradiction to your previous posts that the talking of Mecca was without blood shed. But now that you are confronted with the historical facts, you back track and equivocate. Contradicting yourself and back tracking on your own statements are at the heart of why you, enin, and xtreme5 are getting so much push back from other folks within these forums. Contradicting yourself and back tracking in light of the historical facts does not bolster the Muslim narrative and only serves to make your posts and input untrustworthy and deserving of criticism.

You state above that Muhammad did not order the killing of anyone but then follow up in the next sentence with saying Muhammad ordered the killing of those who kill other people. So, within three sentences you directly contradict yourself. First you say, Muhammad did not order the killing of anyone but then contradict yourself saying Muhammad ordered the killing of rapists and justify it by claiming that killing someone who kills someone else somehow magically absolves Muhammad from having ordered the killing of people. Interestingly, this assertion corresponds with the historical record. Muhammad was known for and it is written in the Koran that Muslims can fight and kill in instances of legitimate self defense. Therefore, logically speaking, if Muhammad supported killing in cases of self defense and killing in cases where someone killed someone else, then it is reasonable to accept that Muhammad sanctioned and required (ordered) the killing of people. Again, these contradictions and equivocations do not serve to further the Muslim narrative that Islam is a peaceful religion.

If anything, the historical record of Muhammad's living example is a direct contradiction to what you say about Islam being a religion of peace.

If there has been anyone that epitomizes the living example of peace, if there has been anyone who promoted peace and did not condone the killing of anyone for any reason, it was Jesus Christ.
You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
But then again, I do not expect you to take the words of the Christian Bible to be any example of living a life of peace because it is a (unfounded) tenet of Islam that the Christian Bible has been corrupted by Man.

I think this one has run its course.

I'm going to close subsequent religious threads that do not promote wellness: the eating of vegemite on toast ... or the use of a stressball ... or the value of having a cat ... or the value of preserving life in general ... or the colour "warm neutral" which I personally find fascinating.

I think there is little point exploring this point further as some points bave been made many times ... and noone's perspective is shifting.

Maybe we should just retire the religion section ... or post some stuff about Buddha?

That religion at least sounds interesting ... and not many have recently fought over the topic or blown themselves up?

It might be a welcome change??

+1 Incredibly smart dogs. They get ear infections like crazy though, its something you have to stay on top of with them.

most 'pure bread' dogs will have some sort of issues.

and one of mine is solid white and soon as he turned 7 he started getting allergies.
while the other that is two types (bloodlines) of American Bulldog doesn't have those problems...
yet.
