Hello, recently (2 months or so) replaced my old strix gtx 1080 Ti for a new Rtx 3080 Ti Gaming X trio (got it on a a very good deal on amazon), should i keep my 3080 Ti? Or replace it with a 4090? Also have the chance to change it for a 3090 + money, but i just don't know.

I use my rig for Gaming/Blender modeling and rendering, all at 4k 60, sometimes going down for 1440, and even 1080 for light use (sometimes i just play some music and chill around doing home tasks lol)

My system specs are below, thanks!

  • i7 12700F
  • 2x16 gb, 32 gb team group Vulcan z
  • Rtx 3080 Ti Msi Gaming X Trio
  • Arctic Freezer II 360 Argb
  • Case Corsair Graphite 760T
  • 850w psu corsair rm850x

Depends on how rich you are.
Based on reviews and benchmarks, yes it is worth it. 4090 leaves 3090ti in the dust and when you factor in dlss3, you can likely double your FPS on 4k gaming. So yeah, it is 100% worth it if you have money to spare.

edit : But make sure your power consumption can keep up with 4090. I heard it is very very power hungry. You might need to upgrade your PSU as well as your case(because 4090 is 1.5x bigger than 3080ti).

RM850x might be enough.

If I recall, 5 PCIe/EPS connectors on the PSU side. I believe most Z690 boards will require at least one 8-pin EPS and an additional 4 or 8-pin. So that is two cables. Which leaves 3 8-pin PCIe cables possible for a direction connection. Now you can use the included cables and daisy chain off of them to get the 4 8-pins you need for the included adapter, but the ideal solution would be 4 8-pin cables to the 12-pin adapter, or a Corsair direct PSU -> 12-pin cable (recommended)

What that does is take what would normally run 4 8-pins, and get you straight to the 12-pin connector. (Thicker gauge wiring is what allows this)

Seeing OP's specs, if he got the money for 4090 and willing to take the loss of selling 3080 Ti he just purchased, I am 110% certain what's best for OP now is just to upgrade the entire system and not touching anything anymore for another 3-4 years. Seriously.

He could sell that entire system, get 4090 with recent motherboard and cpu, and ddr5. To lose nearly the same amount of money than if OP just replace GPU, maybe not entirely similar maybe need like $300-400 extra on top of what would OP spend if just getting 4090.

My 3090 is still running games smoothly and will not pay for the 4090 even if its more powerful and better because might not even notice the changes and to spend extra money on PSU is really not worth it. Next year the 4090ti will be coming out that more powerful then 4090 and then 5090 that will be alot more better then 4090 so no matter what there always going to be better GPU

Gaming, blah. A 3080Ti at 4k is fine for that.

It's the second half. Blender modeling and rendering. That's where the 4090 is going to pay-off. It'll cut times pretty drastically, and time is money. Whether that's more work done in the same time or equal work done in less time makes no difference, it's still money.
