MSI Board Not Post

I just got a MSI 648F Neo L and thought I swap out my old PCChips M922LR mobo. Everything done by the manual, but when I boot, the cd turns, but the screen stays blank. This board has a D-Bracket 2 - an integrated diagnostic LED. This indicates that the "D-LED will hang if the processor is damaged or not installed properly". I didn't think this was right, so I checked the connections again then swapped in a perfectly working 2.8 P4 and the D-Led again gave the same problem code. However, the screen did reach the post screen, then hung - would not allow me to get into Setup etc. When I rebooted this time the screen remains blank - no post, no nothing. I cleared the CMOS, reattached all cables, tried different combinations of cards and RAM combinations - still no go. I don't get it. All these components worked on the old mobo. Anyone have a similar problem? Is the mobo fried or is there something I missed - a jumper or cable that MSI forgot to tell me about? Any help appreicated for a newbie.

Did you plug in the ATX 12V power connector (the square one) to JPW1? It powers the CPU.

Yes. I stripped it down to just the mobo, vid card, one stick of ram and it still won't post. I'll try another PSU tomorrow, and if that doesn't work it's going back. I don't think it's the Power Sup. because the system worked before I swapped the mobos.

Most frequent cause of "no post" when changing boards is a shorted board, caused by one of the mounting studs for the original board hitting a spot with no hole on the new board.

Tried a new PSU and RAM with a minimal boot outside the case - no good. I think we can pronounce this one...time of death 10:46 AM.

Thanks for all the help. Hopefully its' replacement will work out better.
