I have a msi NF750-G55 mobo amd phenom II x2 550 not BE 4 gig corsair dominator 1333. I used the easy oc switch to increase the FSB by 10% it took it from 3.1 to 3.41 Ghz everything seems to run stable is there any risk of doing this? I can go up to either 15% or 20% is that recommended? What dose over clocking benifit?

iv got a similar Msi motherboard with overclock switches. for me at least with a Phenom II x4 955 i can get it up to 15% stable. at 20% it crashes but im running a quad core on stock cooling. but if your running aftermarket cooling then you could probably do 20%.

and yes its safe, any problems just power down and flick the switch back. keep in mind for me at least it sometimes takes a bit for certain programs (CpuID etc) to tell its at a lower speed. so dont be alarmed if it appears to be at the same speed

and yes it also overclocks your Ram as well.

make sure your running Prime95 everytime you overclock because you cant really tell if its stable just from the idle temp.

I downloaded prime 95 but I dont know what I am looking for the only diff I see is my temp goes to 47 and it says load 100% on coretemp. I am assuming prime 95 is a program that checks your system at max performance is this correct?

yes, thats what P95 is designed for, when you overclock, you run P95 and you test the system at 100% stress to ensure its stable and wont bsod on you every ten minutes, if it does, you lower your clock ing a bit and try again, but usually you would start stock, then increase a small increment at a time, test, up a bit more test, and keep going till you reach your limit.
temperature obviously plays a big part in your limit so if you plan on going nuts, invest in an aftermarket cooler,
what your looking for on P95 is for it to crash the system, this tells you its not stable basically, if you run it overnight and you havent crashed, your fine, most people take a sucessful hours test as proof though before pushing things further.

I ran prime95 for 2 hours never got above 49c. Every morning when I power up it never boots right the first time either a insert usb drive with bios,or windows connot find a certin file error comes up when I turn off and back on 99.9% of the time it works 2nd try then runs fine rest of day only does it after sitting everything is less than 2 months old any ideas?

My ram is at 1333 like I stated in first post. I turned off the auto feature in bios settings before I went up 10%. I have left auto on speed goes to mid 1400's and still runs fine. I have the latest bios update from msi V1.3. There is no performance problems once windows loads.

It is at 1333 I have ran it both ways there is no noticable difference with either setting. This problem was present before the oc switch was turned on. I dont know why only one sentence appeared above.

Sure, clock her up. Just check the temps with a program like Coretemp. Run Prime95 and run Coretemp to check the temps while it's running. Stay under 65c.

Likely the auto overclock function also overclocks your ram. You can unlink it so your ram stays at 1333mhz. Likely any BSOD or overclock failure will be if the ram is running 1400mhz or more.

Sorry for using this topic after long time, but I didn't found in another place, how I unlink the ram in the bios for using OC switch? I didn't found in the mobo manual. Thank you!
