Few weeks ago I noticed my Tab key on my GE 72 VR was loose. I thought "I'll just pop it into place by pressing down".

That didn't work. The key is loose still.

So I thought "I'll get a replacement key!"

So I ordered a replacement key and just put it on the keyboard.

The Tab key is still "loose". It floats above the keyboard. I can easily flip up the key. It's still connected, just not locked into place.

This is the ONLY key that's doing this, and I've not seen any help on Youtube or elsewhere for this. I'd like to avoid going to a PC Repair place and paying $75 for it to be fixed or to be told "get a new laptop" when there's nothing wrong with it.

Help?

You don't need a new laptop but you may need a new keyboard or at least have that key connection replaced. Tabs may be broken off the clips or the switch connections are not lined up properly. You need to decide what you want to spend on the thing, or look over the connections to see what may be wrong. If it was me, I'd just leave it as it is unless it's falling off all the time, Tab key is not used that much. Shift, I would replace keyboard for, or space bar or some other often used key.
