Hello !

I will buy a gtx 970 by the end of next week and i'm still struggling to decide which one i should buy. After alot of research, test and review reading, forum lurking, i was inclined toward the msi gaming. But there is also the MSI GTX 970 4GD5T OC which is 20$ cheaper than the msi gaming. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127833&cm_re=gtx_970-_-14-127-833-_-Product

Would it be a good choice, considering it's 20$ less ? It's lower on frequency, but can't i just overclock it and save 20$ ? Side question, i found absolutely zero test/review about this MSI GTX 970 4GD5T OC, any idea why ?

Thanks !

Yes, the 4G Gaming version has a custom PCB, military grade components, and a better cooler. Currently, it can handle the highest overclocks of any GTX 970 (tied with the Gigabyte Windforce Gaming, but that card is ridiculously long). For only $20 more, I got the Gaming version because it seemed worth it to me.

I just found that the MSI GTX 970 4GD5T OC also has the same military grade components as well. Saw it on Youtube (MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GD5T Graphics Card Unboxing) While he is holding up the card you can see the info on the box behind it. Seems the only difference really is the out-of-the-box clock settings and maybe the fans. the fins look the same. Maybe the gaming model has a slightly better bin grade chip???
