I am having a problem with my new setup:

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum-SLI
AMD 64 4400+ X2

It appears that the system is not being recognized as a dual proc
machine in Windows XP, but when I put the 64-bit version on, it did
recognize it having 2 cpus. The system is being recognized as a
"Standard PC" in device manager. I have looked all over for some
answers and have since found nothing. Anyone know where I should
start looking for answers?

thanks

What version of XP Home or Pro? What BIOS version?

Newest BIOS from MSI (I am at work now and don't have the exact
version but I tried it with both the BIOS dated in July from this
year and the newest version which was released only a few days ago).
My version of XP is Professional.

I am not sure what can be happening (obviously). With my P4 with
Hyperthreading the same install of XP shows 2 CPUs and the computer
type as a ACPI Multiprocessor PC in the device manager, while on my
X2 setup I get "Standard PC".

thanks again.
