Hi everyone, I recently reset my cmos battery and after this my motherboard no longer reads my ethernet cable (via powerline adapter if that makes a difference) it doesnt even have the green light

Ive tried updating bios, installing realtek driver, it says “The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable”
Also the ethernet cable is fine as it works with my laptop

Any clue what i can do to fix it?

resetting bios shouldn't effect ethernet?

motherboard manual - https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/mb/E7B89v1.1.pdf

in bios
settings
Advanced
Integrated Peripherals
onboard lan controller (is it enabled)

i don't think it using powerline should make any difference. its just not seeing the connection if light isn't on.

where did you get realtek driver from?
Win10 Auto Installation Program (SId:1152921505693680020) under windows header here is newest - https://www.realtek.com/en/componen...0-1000m-gigabit-ethernet-pci-express-software

is the adapter in device manager?

Step 1: Also, you need to launch Device Manager.

Step 2: Double-click Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.

Step 3: Under the Power Management tab and uncheck the box of Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

So it shows in bios but not in windows. and all you did was reset cmos.

try this in bios -
disable the lan controller, save & restart, go back into bios and enable again. See if windows sees it then

Curious if Ubuntu sees the LAN - just run off USB - https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows#1-overview
