None of them actually. EVGA or ASUS. My brand preference. But wait till you get to read the reviews on that. Btw EVGA GTX 970 review is available on Hexus.net and it is very impressive.

ALL major manufacturers that mass produce components have their ups and downs with batch issues, including ASUS, EVGA, and MSI. When ASUS first started really pushing for mass production in the consumer market, they had a LOT of MB quality issues. In fact even back when deciding which X58 MB to get, an ASUS rep on the phone advised I not get any of their MBs within 3 months of model release. First batch problems are common, esp with MBs, but it can be common with GPUs too as complex as they are anymore.

Before I bought my 7970, I had narrowed down my choices to either an EVGA or MSI 660 Ti. At the time EVGA had tons of complaints on their forums about 600 series problems within several months after their debut. I ended up buying an MSI 660 Ti PE OC, but it had strange detection/BSOD issues with my Panasonic TV, that my prior Palit GTS 250 and current Sapphire 7970 do not, and MSI were not helpful at all, so I refunded it to Newegg.

Most of Giga's past MB issues were merely BIOS related and sorted out. It's not as big a deal as you make it out and there's no reason to extrapolate that into assumed GPU issues. Giga have some of the best support in the biz too.

Just checked and they're both about 30cm (12inches). Will it fit in my mid tower case?
The Thermaltake level 10 gts. My current card is significantly smaller (about 17.7 cm), so I'm not really sure here. I measured with a ruler and 12 inches just touches the edge of where the HDD is, so its close. A G1 will definitely not fit, but I'm a little hesitant about the MSI one too.
Because of this, i'll stick with the MSI and hope that when it arrives, it fits.

actually, you are wrong, you CAN go wrong with EVGA. their "ACX" cards use recycled cooler designs that were meant for other GPUs and don't properly sit on the GPU. and MORE importantly, they use the cheapest components of any GPU maker on the planet for their "ACX" cards. Asus, Gigabyte, MSI use 8 phase power delivery for the custom GTX 970 cards. Zotac uses 10 phases on their cards!

EVGA? they figured 4 phases is enough on all 10+ of their GTX 970 variants save for their stupid "classified" crap, which they sell for obscene prices. not only that, the other guys use higher quality capacitors and chokes than EVGA.

I used to be a big EVGA fan myself. I bought a pair of GTX 970 ACX cards on release day. but after taking a look under the cooler i packed that garbage up and sent it right back to EVGA. Got MSI cards instead.

A word of warning: I picked up the ACX 2.0 a few days after launch and took it back 3 days after purchase. The card whined terribly when under moderate load and the fans were annoyingly loud even around the 45-50% RPM mark. Temps weren't that bad for me if I'm being honest, hovering around 65-67oC at 1.42Mhz. The replacement card was the G1 SoC. I'm at +25mV running 1574mhz at 64oC with fan speed around the 60% mark and it is barely audible over the Air 540 fans. Mem is at a cool 8001Mhz and all in all I am very happy with the card. You can turn off/alter the LED in Nvidia's software.

I am no Gigabyte fanboy, I had dual 780s before I bought this.

I want to go gigybte gaming but that card is massive and long. Don't think it'll fit in my cheap budget rosewill gakaxy 01 case(hate my case)

But MSI isn't a bad choice

Don't worry too much. If you can hold off a while or get something smaller at a good price to hold you over, the next Nvidia cards will be very powerful and small. Pascal cards are said to have PCBs only the length of an ink pen.

The future of PC components will be smaller, not bigger.

My ex gf ended up getting me the gtx msi 970. Why did I break up with her in the first place? LOL.

Can't hold off as this is my first build and my first gpu(well, second returned the 760 a day after I got it )

I was just about to buy the Gigabyte G1 until I realized my case is old and small. I measured my card now that barely even fits and it's about 11.5", so either the Gigabyte will JUST fit, or it won't at all. Not worth the risk.

So I guess it's either the MSI 4G or I wait for the ASUS Strix.....

Is there any reason to be worried about MSI? I've never used anything from them but I get a bad feeling about their products for some reason.

I heard their motherboards are pretty crap but as far as their house I heard they are pretty top notch

Sorry that's the best I can say. Won't get mine til Friday but I think it will be awesome.

Outside gigabyte it seems this one gives you the most bang for your buck

Also digital foundry ran a test with this card since it has one eight pin and a 6pin gives you more power to overclocking

I personally wouldn't recommend strix unless you don't plan to oc

Yeah I've heard some things about their motherboards too. Maybe someone can shed some light on the quality of MSI GPU's in particular?

I've had experience with ASUS and Gigabyte and know first hand their quality is top notch so it sucks how I'm now relegated to just the MSI 4G due to availability/case size.

I used an MSI 760 and ran it for about a day or two before electing to return it and get a 970 instead. it never ran above 75 celsius. Usually avg about 68 degrees. Quiet too. I experienced no whine just wasn't satifyied with the price(229.00) to the 970s price.

Never dealt with their customer service hope I won't need to lol

Thanks, good to know, even more happy now that I have purchased the Asus card.
