ASUS is the best all around manufacturer of motherboards, which is why I choose it. Not a fan of MSI and Gigabyte are very good boards too so not a bad choice.

The main reason I went with the ASRock 870 Extreme3, as it is the best price to performance / features for an AM3 motherboard out right now... IMO.

but that motherboard Asus AMD Motherboard (Model M4A87TD EVO) does a 16x,4x crossfire and not 8x,8x.

So don't you think that it would effect the performance of dual ati cards when installed.

And which processor should I opt for.

The motherboards listed by you support core unlocking. So should I go with a Phenom II x2 555 BE, Phenom II x3 720 BE or go with an original quad Athlon II x4 640 for gaming purpose.

The games performance depends mostly of the GPU, but the CPU also do his job there. Th core unlock isn't 100% that works fine, so, if you want a quad-core buy a quad-core.

The L3 cache is very useful for heavy work and games, so, the X3 720 is a solid option for CPU.
