Hi,

I just bought a z97i gaming ack from MSI. When I launched the bios update from live update software, computer got stuck on update screen for about 10hours so I switched it off. Then the computer could boot. I did some cmos clearing but nothing happens. MSI support told me to send it back.

So did I and as I am in a hurry (working in a foreign country and leaving in 3 days) I bougth a new motherboard, the same one (200$ with shipment).

I tried to update bios using a USB stick this morning, it is stacked at 18% for 2 hours now.

Could anyone help and tell me what to do ? I would like, if possible, to shut every thing down safely and clear cmos (how ? Button ? Battery ? Jumper ? The manual doesn't tell how to or, as a French, I don't understand it) and forget updating bios.

Please help !

Thank you

Why you wanna update BIOS? which version?

Which CPU?

If a BIOS update is stuck, there is no way to shut it down safely.

To clear Cmos, you have to shutdown the system and most important, unplug the power cord from it.

Only then, open the case, shorten the two "JBAT1" Pins with a metallic object, like a screwdriver, for a view seconds.

the pdf is not searchable, you have to find it by scrolling the pages

Thank you for your reply.

I have a i5 4690k.

I forced shutdown after another couple hours, stuck at 18% and booted without any clear cmos. It worked just fine since then.

I'll stuck to rule #1 now : if it work, don't touch anything.

The live update software said and still says version A00, the motherboard said and still says its A10. I wanted to install 10.1.

couldn´t find any BIOS which is named A00 or A10. Just one 1.A from a msi z97 gaming 9 ack
Are you really sure about the motherboard´s brand and model?

How exactly did you flash the BIOS with the usb thumb drive? Did you use the BIOS to flash or a special DOS flash tool?
