I agree 3d gaming on this thing is probably limited but I'm betting it's aiming at casual users who want to be able to surf and watch 3d movies. I personally wouldn't mind it as a bedroom pc.

but then again casual users should not be using i7 either...

3D pr0n eh?

I dont even enjoy watching 3D movies at the theater as much as conventional viewing. new digital 3D cameras seam forced with limited use. and virtual reality is cool but isolating. I just dont see a mass market that will drive the 3D format.

It's all about the 3d porn 😀

Doesn't say it has to come with a core I7. Think it's just a socket 1156 and if you'd like you can upgrade to that. And anyone who's throwing an I7 into an all in one not made by something like Alienware has too much money.

Funny, I just had a discussion with my friend where he was saying iMac's are better than PC's because they are AIO ... So much for that :)

[citation][nom]ravewulf[/nom]It's probably an NVIDIA GPU as ATI doesn't have 3D w/shutter glasses yet (but they are working on it)[/citation]

It does, its just ATI isn't yelling the laments of a proprietary closed model for doing it. They are using the OpenCL versions.

i think the 3D environment will take a long time to go mainstream, but by that time 4D will be appearing ...which will add to the audio/visual smell and touch

It's 4D anyway, time....

Last year I built an i5 750 based rig for a customer needing enough processing power to batch hundreds of 10Mpixel raw images in a reasonable manner without making his other tasks (picasa work and delphi programming) seem restricted. A guy like him could very well make use of an i7 combined with a 24" display for his work.

the 4th dimentional isn't fixed - it can be any of a number of defined dimentions of which time is merely one. And considering time being a relative measure and not a fixed one (as opposed to the first three) it's highly impropable that it can be reliably integrated in software.

Whoh!!! Sorry I didn't realise I was addressing the Locasian Chair at Oxford University. I do understand that the 4 transitional dimension aren't in any order and time could be first I suppose, and all unproved but theorised dimensions (up to 10 in superstring theory) I suppose they could be in any order as well. Perhaps length, bredth, depth and time occupy slot 3, 5, 8 and 10 for all we know.
However.
I didn't realise "smell" was a dimension.

I didn't take any stance regarding smell being a dimention or not. I cannot say if it is. But I know that time is a dimention that is very hard to apply in software as time slows down or speeds up depending on gravitation (see einsteins special theory on relativity), and I don't believe something that isn't a fixed measure can be employed as a dimention in a fixed piece of software. The dimentions can ofcourse be shuffled around or be replaced by other dimentions, but xyz is the norm, so taking xyz+whatever is needed as fourth dimention for granted is reasonable. I just don't believe time is applicable as fourth dimention as it isn't entirely in your control.

Just ribbing ya, would be interesting to see games with digital smells encoded, so when you go through sewer levels you can smell poo, or if you are in jungle levels you can smell trees. That would be so cool.
