Why has microsoft felt it necessary to not allow executable files from being
transfered thought MSN Mess 7. I think that I (and frankly most of us) are
smart enough to not accept files from people we don't know. Or that we are
smart enough ot have a good anti-virus program which will stop any viruses
which may come through. In doing this microsoft says that we are not smart
enough to think for ourselves and they must do our thinking for us.

I really hate microsoft in the worst way for this way of thinking. But then
you ask "then why do you use MS?", well because i hate MAC more. And frankly
i don't really have that much choice.

You would be truly amazed at just how many people do not renew their "free"
3 month subscription of the antivirus that was included with their new
computer. Their stupidity keeps many of us in business.

Yes, they do seem to have grouped everyone together in that "we're too dumb
to use a computer and know what files could be bad for us" and have taken
away user intervention.

Would it be too hard to have an option (similar to that in Outlook Express
for instance) allowing the user to turn the option of "potentially harmfull"
attachments/files on or off. Rather than saying "nope, you can't
send/receive this file - tough luck".

Yes, there's some dumb people out there who accept and open anything and
everything they get sent. However the majority of users are now Net savvy
enough to police their own use of file transmission.

Just my two-penneth :)

Well, then you are left with only two viable choices ... use Linux or to go
postal. ;)
The second is possibly the more pleasant experience. ;)
