Question MT/s or Mhz for gaming?

So in my search for component's for my new build I came across Ram mostly G Skill that list thiers as Mt/s rather than Mhz and read that while lets say 4000 MT/s is only 2000 Mhz its fast than lets say Ram thats list as 4000MHz and that for gaming RAM listed as MT/s wold be better than RAM listed as MHz for gaimg with me only Playing World of warcraft which is more CLU/RAM dependent should I go with RAM that list as MT/s?
 
it does not really matter. they are related. every stick is different and comparing or placing a large portion of your interest in a single number misses the point of the rest of the stats.

nice fast ram with the best timings is what you want for the most part. the MT/s is a product of those numbers put together. higher is better for sure, but not the only important thing.

unless you know your use case will depend on getting every last bit of data transfer from your ram, then it's not worth putting too much effort into picking a set. grab what's in your budget with the best stats and you'll be good to go.

Double Data Rate confuses the two metrics because DDR doubles Megatransfer throughput over MHz. But as said, it's more or less the same, though often XMP has to be enabled to achieve XMP advertised MT/s which is most ram. For example you buy 3200MHz DDR4 ram (default jedec profile is 1333MHz 2666MT/s), it requires XMP to run at 1600MHz 3200MT/s otherwise motherboard puts it at whatever default value prior.

End of the day, DDR = MT/s.
