Hi there,

I recently just purchased an ATI Radeon HD 3870 PCIe card to jump back into some (light) pc gaming. I previously had two barebones Radeon 7000 for four monitor support.

Once I installed the PCIe along with the (1) PCI card, windows xp struggles to load, quick blue screen, and restarts...

Both cards can work individually but not in tandem. So my question is, can PCIe and PCI cards work in tandem?

I originallly figured they would because before I had (1) AGP w/ (1) PCI with multi monitors. However any input with be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Though it could be a driver issue, it's probably a power problem.

Thanks for the response.

SO I'm not crazy for thinking I should be able to run a PCI and PCIe card simultaneously.

Power issues makes sense since XP fails to launch...My power supply is 750W which I thought would be sufficient...but maybe not.

I'll see what I can do.

Thanks again!

I don't think it's a power issue since I imagine 700W should be sufficient. Also when I boot up in Vista there isn't a problem loading. It sees the card but I can't use the card in Vista because the drivers don't exist.

Any other suggestions why XP blue screens on start up? or a way to disable my PCIe card when booting up in XP so I can have multiple monitors, then use my PCIe when I want in Vista for gaming?
